Alberto Mateo (Madrid – 1973) studied Mining Engineering in Madrid.
During his university years he became interested in travel and mountain
sports photography. As a self- taughter photographer he has received
various university as well as national prizes including first prize from
the “Ateneo de El Ferrol” in nature photography in 2000. He has held
exhibits of his work throughout Spain.
His profound interest in travel photography has taken him to many
corners of the world such as Tierra del fuego, Bolivia, Nepal, India,
Morocco, Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, Portugal, Italy, Germany, France and the
USA. And has driven him to intimately discover cities, mountain ranges
and caves throughout the spanish territory.
The destination that most inspires him is South East Asia.
His specialities include travel photography, particularly of exotic
destinations, portraits, nature photography, black and white as well as
color landscapes and mountain sports: canyoneering, mountaineering,
speleology and trekking.
